The Alliance for Grassland Renewal Announces Educational Grants for Extension Agents and Other Advisers

The Alliance for Grassland Renewal intends to support local educational programs focused on Fescue Toxicosis and Tall Fescue Pasture Renovation through a grant program for Extension Agents and other educational advisers.  Grants of $500 or $1000 will be awarded with the goal of supporting at least one activity in each member state during the next year.

Support will be provided to support a pasture walk ($500 funding) or a full day workshop including a classroom portion and a farm visit ($1000).  The idea is to highlight farmers that have seen success with Novel Endophyte Tall Fescue.  Each award will also support testing of existing KY31 or Novel Endophyte Tall Fescue stands to help support local programming goals.

Program delivery will be supported by Alliance representatives from each state, and the Alliance will provide an additional speaker when necessary.  The Alliance will also provide powerpoint presentations, a package of documents to use as handouts and technical support as necessary.

If you are an adviser and are interested in this opportunity you will find a description of the program and the application process at www.grasslandrenewal.org.  If you are farmer wanting to learn more about the benefits of tall fescue pasture renovation contact your agent and encourage them to apply.

The Alliance for Grassland Renewal is a national organization focused on enhancing the appropriate adoption of novel endophyte tall fescue technology through education, incentives, self-regulation and promotion.  For more resources or to learn more about the Alliance for Grassland Renewal, go to www.grasslandrenewal.org
